Bass Peter Martinčič began his study of singing in Ljubljana under Professors Edita Garčevič -
As distinguished opera soloist boasts a number of recognition awards from various singing competitions. He received a gold citation at the Slovenian State Competition TEMSIG in 2004, as well as a gold citation and first award in the highest category in 2010. He was also a finalist of the Ondina Otta International Competition of Opera Singers in 2010. In 2011 he received the Best Obligatory Song Interpretation Award and the Krakow Festival Award.
In the 2011/12 season he appeared as a guest singer at the Royal Opera in Versailles and the Opera Comique in Paris in the production of the baroque opera Amadis de Gaule by J. C. Bach. In 2013 he performed at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, where he sang Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte. In 2015 he appeared at the Regensburg Festival in Germany in the role of Colline in La bohème. He was also a guest singer at the City Opera in WrocƗaw in Poland, where he sang Ferrando in Il torvatore. In the season 2016/17 he appeared in two new roles of Alidoro (La Cenerentola) and Don Fernando (Fidelio).
His main recent engagements in Ljubljana between 2018 and 2022 include: Lindorf, Coppelius, Miracle and Dapertutto in Les contes d’Hoffmann, Leporello in Don Giovanni, Banco in Macbeth, Mephistopheles in Faust, Conte di Walter in Luisa Miller, Alidoro in La Cenerentola.
Among the debuted roles of his repertoire: Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro), Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte), Zaccaria and Sacerdote di Belo (Nabucco), Sparafucile (Rigoletto), Colline (La bohème), Daland (Der fliegende Holländer), Don Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Escamillo and Zuniga (Carmen), Lodovico (Otello), Tom (Un ballo in maschera), Štrukelj, The Innkeeper (The Nightingale of Gorenjska), La Haine, Ghost of Ardan Camil (Amadis de Gaule), Petruccio (Black Masks), The King, The Bandit (The Shepherd).
